Chelsea ace Billy Gilmour’s transfer stance after Frank Lampard’s sacking

Chelsea ace Billy Gilmour has decided he wants to leave Stamford Bridge on loan in order to get some first-team football in the wake of Frank Lampard’s sacking.

The young midfielder had been in line for more first-team football under the club legend, but all that seems set to change.

Lampard’s dismissal and the club’s decision to replace him with Thomas Tuchel has reportedly left Gilmour seeking a move away.

The former midfielder had expressed a desire to keep Gilmour at Stamford Bridge, having handed the Scotsman his first-team debut as part of his youth revolution at the club.

The Daily Mail reports Gilmour has now decided he wants to go out on loan in order to get some first-team football.

The teenager didn’t feature in Tuchel’s first squad on Wednesday night as the Blues were held to a goalless draw by Wolves.

He apparently feels his chances at first-team minutes will be limited due to Tuchel’s preference to play N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Matteo Kovacic.

It is believed that a host of Premier League clubs will be queueing up for Gilmour, as well as multiple top-half Championship clubs.

Speaking after his first match in charge, Tuchel insisted there will be opportunities for every member of the squad to compete for minutes.

“I don’t think there are too many weaknesses, I want to focus on our strengths and focus on the mix of the amazing mix of the team from the experienced players to the big personalities and young and hungry talent,” he said.

“I want to create a special energy and atmosphere that you need to achieve and have the possibility to win every three days in a league like this and I believe that we can do this on a daily basis.

“What I found yesterday was a very open staff, a very helpful staff that helped me prepare for this game and an open team.

“It was a totally unfair lineup today because I had no reason to leave anybody out so from now on, it is the starting point and we will absolutely focus on our strengths and the qualities that we absolutely have and build a team that nobody wants to play against. That is the challenge for me to achieve as fast as possible but today, I am very very pleased.”
