Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino jokes about playing himself to stop Son
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino joked about the prospect of playing himself in defence to stop in-form Tottenham star Son Heung-min. Pochettino returns to Spurs for the first time since his sacking in November 2019.
The Argentine’s primary focus will be to hatch a plan to stop Son continuing his fine scoring form. The forward has struck eight Premier League goals this season, including five in his last five outings.
Pochettino, a former centre-back, has joked that he will not be playing himself in Chelsea’s back line on Monday night. He has instead backed his defenders to deal with Son’s threat.
Asked how he will halt the Korean’s excellent form, Pochettino quipped: “I’m not going to play centre back! My centre back needs to stop him.
“We know him and he’s one of the best players in the Premier League. Hope it’s not going to be a good night for him.”
