Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel met club owner Roman Abramovich for the very first time on Saturday… on the pitch after winning the Champions League. The two have since held positive talks ahead of a big summer at Stamford Bridge, according to reports.
Since becoming manager in January when Chelsea were slumped in ninth, Tuchel led the club to fourth in the Premier League and the FA Cup and Champions League finals.
Leicester City triumphed in the FA Cup, but the Blues secured a second Champions League success in Porto, beating Manchester City 1-0.
Tuchel has been widely heralded for his impact since, as Roman Abramovic unsurprisingly looked delighted after full-time.
After Saturday’s final, Tuchel was asked about his future, to which he responded by suggesting Abramovich mentioned his contract during their inaugural meeting.

He said: “I’m not even 100 per cent sure, but maybe I have already a new contract with that win.
“My manager said something about it. I did not know, but let’s check this first.
“I spoke to the owner [Roman Abramovich] right now on the pitch, which was the best moment for a first meeting.
“Or the worst as from now on, it can only get worse! We will speak tomorrow, we will speak later, but I’m looking forward to this.

According to The Athletic, Tuchel and Abramovich met again on the morning after Chelsea’s victory at Estadio do Dragao.
The report states that ‘positive talks’ took place regarding the German boss’ future, likely regarding a new contract.
Fabrizio Romano claims new contracts for Tuchel and Thiago Silva will be announced soon, with N’Golo Kante also set to be offered a new deal.
After lifting the Champions League, Tuchel also stressed that he wants to win more silverware with Chelsea and grow as a coach whilst doing it.
“I can assure him that I will stay hungry, that I want the next title, and I feel absolutely happy as a part of a really ambitious club,” Tuchel added.
“My desire is to go for more victories, and my desire is to grow as a coach.
“My desire is to push the group from the first day of the next season to the limit.
If the latest reports come to fruition, Tuchel will be stationed in West London for the foreseeable future.
With big incomings expected this summer too, Chelsea will undoubtedly be among the frontrunners for major honours again next season.
