Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will be sweating on the fitness of Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante when his side travel to Tottenham for their Carabao Cup semi-final second leg on Wednesday night. The Blues took control of their final four battle after winning the first leg 2-0 at Stamford Bridge last week.
Silva and Kante both missed last week’s clash as well as Sunday’s FA Cup game with Chesterfield after testing positive for Covid.
“We have the same guys as we have in the cup game,” Tuchel told reporters on Tuesday.
“No new injuries, which is good for us. Then we have to wait on the last-minute decisions for Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante.
“I don’t know. I have to wait in training. It’s a gamble and I am not sure if we do it and how much of responsibility we can take there.”
The influentual players both played the full 90 minutes as Chelsea drew 2-2 with Liverpool in the Premier League at the start of the month.
And Tuchel has admitted that Covid has had a significant impact on his squad in recent times.
“It has a huge impact of course, every single day and before matchdays,” Tuchel continued. “We have training today at 4pm so we hope that everybody makes it into the building.
“For example now, if you want to release players after being positive you have to follow official protocol, which we do.
“Then we have to be very flexible and it can be that both of them [Silva and Kante] arrive later in the afternoon and train.”
