N’Golo Kante has been nothing short of a revelation since he arrived in England six years ago, signing for Leicester in 2015 from French outfit Caen. To many, he is the best ‘defensive midfielder’ to grace the Premier League, though he has proved on a number of occasions he transcends that role and is a force to be reckoned with wherever he finds himself on the pitch.

The World Cup winner signed for Chelsea fresh after being one of the key components in Leicester’s unforgettable title win in 2016, and then spearheaded his new side to yet another Premier League title under Antonio Conte.

The duo worked well together, with Kante arguably playing his best football in a Chelsea shirt under Conte, which may explain the recent rumours linking the midfielder with a move away from Stamford Bridge to join forces with his former manager at Inter Milan.

Former Inter President Massimo Moratti has called on the newly crowned Serie A champions to add Kante to their ranks if they want to stand a better chance of retaining their title next season.

The ex-Inter owner shared his feelings on the domestic glory to Sky Sport Italia, where he said: “I am very happy, it was a special moment that I celebrated with my family.

“I am glad Inter won the title again and I hope we can get more of the same in the future.”

Moratti thinks the next stage to remain at the top, and complete the arguably harder task of retaining the title, is clear.

“I think Kanté has everything to give even more strength to Inter. We signed Wesley Sneijder even if we already had a solid team, but we became exceptional with him.

“The same is true of Kanté, but, I am saying this as a fan, it will be hard to sign him.”

Kante has looked back to his best under new boss Thomas Tuchel, with the midfielder playing a crucial role in the Blues Champions League progession.

The Frenchman put in a man of the match display at home to Atletico Madrid, before giving Real Madrid just as many headaches in the first leg of the semi-final.

Premier League Talking Points: Man Utd fan protests

Chelsea will feel confident they currently have their best chance of reaching the Champions League final since they won the tournament in 2012.

The Blues welcome Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, with the scores level on aggregate at 1-1, Christian Pulisic ensured Tuchel’s side boast that all important away goal.

Real Madrid are also in the midst of an injury crisis, with a number of key players, including central defender Raphael Varane, a doubt for the second-leg.
