Chelsea fans call for Eden Hazard transfer as Belgian suffers fresh Real Madrid blow

Eden Hazard’s Real Madrid spell took another turn for the worse on Saturday, with the Belgian suffering another injury. Hazard enjoyed a stunning seven-season spell with Chelsea, before the La Liga giants signed him in a deal that could exceed £150million in total.

But in his first 18-months with Los Blancos, he has played just 28 times in all competitions, with injuries blighting his time in the Spanish capital.

The 29-year-old was making just his third La Liga appearance against Alaves on Saturday, but lasted less than a half, being replaced by Rodrygo after 30 minutes.

Following the game, which Real lost 2-1, Ziedine Zidane revealed he was yet to know the full extent of his injury, but was hopeful it wasn’t a muscular injury.

“I think and hope it’s just a knock,” he said at his post-game press conference. “I hope it’s not muscular.”

It’s just the latest in a long line of blows for the former Chelsea star, who has failed to make the kind of impact at the Bernabeu that was hoped.

And after he hobbled out of the action, Chelsea supporters across social media were imploring both the player and club to make a deal.

“Come back home,” one fan said . “We love you. I wish you a speedy recovery champ!”

Another posted: “Eden Hazrad should just realize right now he should’ve never left his home. Hope he gets well ASAP and decides to come back sooner rather than later.”

“We need to bring Hazard back home I don’t care if the squad will be too big. Instead of linking with Messi in the transfer window bring our boy home. Make it happen Marina,” a third pleaded.

While a fourth said: “Eden’s journey is turning out a nightmare at Madrid. Just come home eden.”

“Hazard off injured again just proves how he loved and enjoyed playing for Chelsea. Honeymoon is over, come back home,” a fifth replied to the news.

“Hazards move to Real Madrid has been a nightmare. He needs to move back to Chelsea, he’s a shadow of the player he once was,” another Chelsea fan concluded.

After selling Hazard during his first summer in charge, Frank Lampard was forced to navigate a transfer embargo. But in 2020, he was able to splash the cash bringing in a number of attacking talents.

But the Chelsea boss has said it is unfair for any of this summer’s acquisitions to be compared to the man that achieved so much during his time at Stamford Bridge.

“I think it is very hard to fill one-for-one a player of Eden Hazard’s talents.

“His input at the club was huge and I have been talking a lot about Harry Kane today and his impact was similar in terms of goals and assists. To lose that, you have to try and find a way around it.

“With the transfer ban last year, it was more about the younger players coming in and being efficient as a team to at least stay where we are and look further forward in improvement. I think we made good steps on that front.

“With the new players we have in now, I would hate to give any of them the job or idea of they must replace Eden. They must focus on themselves and they have brought talent into the squad, without a doubt.”
