Chelsea fans are fearing the worst after Thiago Silva limped off injured against Tottenham.

The ageless Brazilian hobbled off and was replaced by Wesley Fofana after a collision with Spurs hitman Harry Kane. Silva slid in to poke the ball away from Kane after he slithered his way past Reece James in the penalty area.

But as the former Paris Saint-Germain defender nipped in, his momentum caused Kane to fall on top of him. And as Silva slowly trudged off the pitch, the confidence of Chelsea fans appeared to follow him off the pitch.

"Thiago Silva getting injured lol things are going from bad to worse," one fan said on social media. "If Thiago Silva gets injured i genuinely think we will get relegated," another very concerned supporter added.

"Thiago Silva can have my knee," commented another supporter who is evidently willing to do whatever it takes to keep Silva fit. "Thiago Silva leaving makes me cry," tweeted a particularly emotional supporter.

"The last thing we need is a Thiago Silva injury man," wrote one other supporter before another added, "Thiago Silva injured, I want to cry."

Chelsea's campaign has been blighted by injuries. Their season began with the injury of midfield engine N'Golo Kante pulling up against Tottenham and things have not got much better since.

While the Blues squad is vaster than most other sides in the division, they have had to cope with prolong periods without the likes of James, Ben Chilwell, Fofana, Edouard Mendy, and Christian Pulisic. Eighteen-year-old academy prospect Lewis Hall has been used in midfield, left-back, and left-centre back this season, when the injury crisis was at its worst.

Potter has been trying to slowly integrate his crocked players back into the starting eleven but it is proving to be a very tough ask with Chelsea only recording two victories in their last 14 matches before the match.
