Fans were delighted to see John Terry respond to one cheeky online user who gave the Chelsea legend a dig.
The former Blues captain has only recently activated a Twitter account – but ever since doing so, it’s made for some great viewing, not least for his use of a Non-fungible token (NFT) as a profile pic and his general interactions with supporters.
On Saturday, Terry posted a tweet listing several of England’s former Golden Generation players and how they should have received some form of recognition from the Royal Family at the New Year Honours list.
He wrote to his 260k followers: “Can someone explain why Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Ashley Cole, Nicky Butt, Rio Ferdinand, Sol Campbell, Jamie Carragher, Wayne Rooney, have never been honoured for their services to football.
"We are talking the BEST of the BEST EVER?”
But some weren’t prepared to answer the question. One simply retorted back: “Shush you canteen s******.”
To which Terry replied with: “Nice hat in your profile pic. Miles off it.”
The image in question was actually a photo of Aston Villa player Douglas Luiz.

The move delighted supporters who appreciated the former player taking the time to respond.
Among Terry’s call for the former players to get their recognition, Gary Neville replied to the tweet, saying that he doesn't feel he deserves one.
The pundit said: “I don’t think I’m anywhere near but I’d rather have a most improved player award for a Sunday team than an award off this lot.”

To which Terry replied with: “Best right back of our generation Gaz, dominated world football and won everything for Man Utd. Played at the very top all your career for club and country.
“I’m seeing people being given MBE’s and OBE’s for a flash in the pan.
“While we are at it give Becks his Knighthood.”
Terry was most recently at Aston Villa as the assistant manager but has since returned to his beloved Chelsea for a role as an academy coaching consultant.
