AC Milan star Mike Maignan has posted a cryptic message on social media appearing to question his future, amid the fallout from Paolo Maldini’s sacking.
The goalkeeper was one of several senior Milan stars to have reportedly been angered by the decision to sack Maldini.
Milan legend Maldini, who had spent four years in the role, was dismissed on Monday along with director of football Massara following a tense meeting with owner Gerry Cardinale.
The pair met Cardinale to discuss plans for next season following the conclusion of their Serie A campaign on Sunday.
The meeting did not go well, with both parties unable to agree on how to take the club forward during tense discussions.

Maignan posted a cryptic message on social media alongside photos alongisde Maldini
Maignan appeared to make a direct reference to Maldini’s dismissal, posting two photos on social media of him alongside the Milan great when he signed for the club in 2021.
The photos were accompanied with the message ‘Sempre Milan’ – Always Milan – with Maignan placing a ‘?’ in place of the ‘I’ on Milan.
Maignan has been linked with Chelsea in recent months as the Blues step up their search for a shot-stopper to replace current No 1 Kepa Arrizabalaga.
According to Football Italia, Maldini had been prepared to offer the French international a new deal at AC Milan, with his sudden departure potentially complicating the situation.
Maignan has spent the last two years at the San Siro since arriving from Lille in a £13m deal.
The 27-year-old played a key role as AC Milan secured the Serie A title in 2022, before helping the club reach the last four of the Champions League this season.
Maignan, who has made 68 appearances for the Rossoneri, is under contract until 2026.
Defender Theo Hernandez and midfielder Sandro Tonali were also reportedly angered by Maldini’s dismissal.
Milan were able to convince star striker Rafael Leao to sign a new long-term contract last week, but the Portuguese star may already be having a re-think about his future after Maldini and Massara’s dismissals.
Leao posted a puzzled face emoji on Twitter on Monday night, suggesting that he is not happy with the club’s decision to let Maldini go.
