Chelsea summer transfer target Robert Lewandowski has dropped a major hint over a possible exit from Bayern Munich. The Polish international enjoyed another incredible goalscoring campaign in 2020/21 as he broke Gerd Muller’s 40-goal season record.
Lewandowski netted 41 goals in Bundesliga action, as Hans-Dieter Flick’s side cruised to the league title in 2021, bringing him up to an eye-watering 203 league goals in 219 games in Bavaria.
However, despite his record-smashing exploits in the last 12 months, the former Borussia Dortmund hitman is rumoured to be open to one final career challenge.
Despite turning 33 this summer, Lewandowski remains one of the deadliest finishers in world football, and Chelsea are trailing him ahead of the 2021/22 season.
With two years left on his contract at the Allianz Arena, Bayern are in no rush to offload their star man, but his comments in a recent interview indicate he could be considering a move away.
“I remain open minded. I feel very good at Bayern, the city is superb, it’s a great club”, he told an interview with Canal Plus.

“I am always curious to learn a new language, a new culture.
“But whether it will be in football or after my career, even I don’t know.”
Lewandowski’s hint at a possible exit could stir Blues boss Thomas Tuchel into action as he looks to source a new star striker in the coming weeks.
Timo Werner’s inconsistent form in his first season in English football has persuaded Tuchel he may need to dip into the summer market.

The former RB Leipzig attacker is unlikely to be sold by Tuchel this summer, but England international Tammy Abraham could be a target for West Ham.
Tuchel is still rumoured to be in the race to sign Tottenham talisman Harry Kane, alongside Premier League rivals Manchester City and Manchester United, with Spurs demanding in excess of £100million for him.
However, there is a growing acknowledgement of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s unwillingness to deal with Chelsea, due to previous disagreements over transfers.
That could hand the edge to City and United in the battle for Kane with Chelsea forced to look elsewhere.
With Lewandowski tied to Bayern until 2023, it would take a firm move from the striker to force through a departure, and the German side are rigid in their position to keep hold of him.
Former Blues forward Romelu Lukaku is another possible option for Tuchel with the Belgian international’s future up in the air following Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan exit.
Conte’s departure from the San Siro was based around a lack of funds for new faces ahead of their 2021/22 Serie A title defence and Lukaku could now be on his way out.
The 28-year-old is Inter’s most valued player, with a current asking price of at least £90million, and Chelsea could have a clearer path with him than with Kane.
