Chelsea: Lampard opens up on January transfer plans
Chelsea have had a mixed start to the season, and manager Frank Lampard may look to the transfer market with more games to come in the second half of the campaign. Who could Chelsea sign in the January transfer window?
Chelsea have had a fairly decent first half of the season, and aren’t too far off top spot in the Premier League.
A number of teams have been inconsistent this season, which gives Lampard hope of finishing in the top four, as well as competing for the FA Cup.
In the Champions League, Chelsea have been excellent. They edged out Sevilla to top their group at the end of 2020.
They now face a tough tie against Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16. But could Lampard sign any new players this month?
“I have ideas,” said Lampard. “We have a big squad, we’ll have to see if that changes, if there are opportunities for players who aren’t playing so much.
“That will be a conversation between the player, club and myself.
“Then we’ll see if we can strengthen in the right way, but we’re not jumping up and down to do so.
“My focus this year is purely on work because we have new players, because we have young players, so I’m focusing on that. But we’ll see, it’s a long month.”
