Twitter reaction

Aneesh: Mikel Arteta was at Goodison Park when he saw Freddie drop Mesut Ozil for his behaviour. Other than that, he must have also been told why he was not considered under Unai Emery… yet he continuously includes someone who hasn’t respected multiple coaches and the Club with his attitude.

Tom: With Frank Lampard’s high IQ I thought he would have sold Antonio Rudiger as soon as he saw him play against Lille. No confidence at all, if we lose it’s on Lampard because how can Kurt Zouma our best CB be dropped for a hustle merchant? I want us to win but watch Mustafi score the winner.

Mod: Mason Mount benched, have nothing against the kid but it’s about damn time. This is our current best midfield setup in my opinion and hopefully Frank Lampard realises this.

Transfer talk

Well before we get into the nitty gritty of tonight’s battle – let’s talk transfers. Obviously you’re not bored to death of that already…

Frank Lampard has refused to rule out Chelsea making a move for wantaway PSG striker Edinson Cavani.

Uruguay international Cavani has handed in an official transfer request, with Atletico Madrid waiting in the wings to recruit the 32-year-old.

Asked whether he had any interest in the player, Lampard said: “He’s a great player; I played against him and I always loved his mentality and attitude, and obviously his goalscoring record speaks for itself. I’m not absolutely aware of what the situation is, so we’ll see. He’s an experienced player, but so are many other players out there.”

Interesting Frank, very interesting…

Evening…

Hello everyone and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Chelsea vs Arsenal from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has called for his squad to “take it out on Arsenal” after an injury-time goal snatched away what looked to be a safe point at Newcastle on Saturday.

Tuesday night’s clash between the two squads will be the first off-pitch meeting between Lampard and his Arsenal counterpart Mikel Arteta since the latter was appointed as Gunners manager in December.

While the Blues are searching for retribution, Arteta’s team have ground to make up after slipping to 10th in the table after a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United on Saturday.

Should be a tasty occasion in west London. Team news and line ups coming up shortly. Standby…

Chelsea will hand Reece James a late fitness test ahead of Tuesday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal.

The 20-year-old full-back suffered a knee problem in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Newcastle, but has avoided any serious setback.

Fellow full-back Marcos Alonso is fit again after a thigh issue and will be in the squad.

Arsenal will once again be without suspended captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the short trip across London.

The striker will serve the second of a three-match ban for his sending-off at Crystal Palace, with head coach Mikel Arteta waiting to see if defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos recovers from illness in time to be involved.

Reiss Nelson (hamstring), Sead Kolasinac (thigh), Kieran Tierney (shoulder) and Calum Chambers (knee) are all definite absentees.
