Christian Eriksen expecting £15m Tottenham transfer exit in new few days

Tottenham misfit Christian Eriksen expects to complete a £15m move to Inter Milan in the next few days.

The Serie A side have submitted an improved offer for Eriksen and his agent is now in Milan to finalise the deal.

Spurs were holding out for at least £17m for the midfielder, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

And they rejected an initial bid from the Italians of just £8.5m out of hand as derisory for a player of his worth.

But Inter director Piero Ausilio flew to London for talks earlier this week and a new offer of up to £15m including add-ons looks set to break the deadlock.

Eriksen’s first choice had been to wait until the summer when he will be a free agent and other clubs could potentially come in for him.

But Spurs want him gone before the January transfer window closes and the 27-year-old has now agreed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Inter.

The Italians are also closing in on a cut-price £4.3m move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, who has also already agreed personal terms on a deal until 2022.

Both players need playing time ahead of this summer’s Euros and Inter boss Antonio Conte has admired each of them since his time at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham have already signed Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes on loan but Jose Mourinho is not expecting big things for the rest of the window.

Mourinho wants a striker signed as cover for the injured Harry Kane but is resigned to the fact that Lyon will not sell Moussa Dembele, his preferred option.
