Joe Cole has lauded praise on Mason Mount saying the Chelsea star will go on to become of the club’s ‘top players’ in their history.
Since breaking into the team last season, the 22-year-old has scored 12 goals in 85 appearances in all competitions.
After working with Frank Lampard with Derby, he went on to become one of the Chelsea’s great’s most important players before he was sacked last month.

Cole added that Mount was one of few who didn’t drop their levels under Frank Lampard
Despite being left on the bench against Wolves, he has since shown his importance to Thomas Tuchel and started every league game since.
The midfielder has received his share of criticism however for always playing under Lampard, and for being chosen over other stars such as Jack Grealish for England in the past.
Former Chelsea star Cole, described Mount as one of ‘life’s mysteries’ before the Blues kicked-off in their game against Southampton.
He said on BT Sport: ‘Mason Mount is one of life’s mysteries how people could criticise him for playing so much.
‘He played so much for Frank not because he’s a nice lad, which he is, but because he’s a top top player.
‘Tuchel’s come in, he was out of the team in the first game, Tuchel’s a clever man and realised this kid is a proper player. He epitomises what Chelsea’s all about.

‘I told him off-air when things weren’t going well for Frank, some of the players weren’t standing up and pushing their chest out, his levels stayed the same and tried to drive the team.
‘That’s a massive sign of maturity and that’s why Frank gave him the captain’s armband right at the end. He’ll go on to be one of the top players in Chelsea’s history, he’s that good.’
Mount has become an important part of Chelsea’s midfield, featuring in every game bar one this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
Cole had a big part to play in Chelsea’s success in the 2000’s, winning three Premier League titles, two FA Cups and one League Cup.
Mount has been a regular in the Chelsea side this season featuring in all but one game
