Colorado Rapids will be allowed to host fans at upcoming matches at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park – The Denver Post

The Colorado Rapids’ request to allow fans to attend home matches at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park was approved by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment on Friday.

Officially the club can let in 1,165 fans (6% capacity) as soon as next week, with upcoming matches scheduled for Wednesday and Sunday, Sept. 27, though it’s unclear when fans will initially be allowed to attend.

Fans have not been allowed in the stadium since the club’s final home match before MLS play was halted March 7.

“For the past several months, the club has been working closely with local health authorities and government officials to develop a plan to safely host fans at our stadium again,” Rapids executive Padraig Smith said. “The health and safety of our supporters is our key priority in this process and we look forward to hosting fans at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park at the appropriate time during the next phase of MLS play.”

Groups no larger than 175 people will be allowed to use designated entrances and exits. They must be seated together in defined sections and access specific concessions stands and restrooms. The Rapids are also being asked to separate and break up any congregating or crowding.

The Denver Broncos are also tabbed to host fans at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday, Sept. 27.

The state health department said it would re-evaluate hosting fans if the situation changes.
