Cristiano Ronaldo looking to ‘rebuild bridges with Real Madrid’ as he considers Juventus exit routes with rumours continuing to swirl over his future with Serie A giants

  • Cristiano Ronaldo is targeting Real Madrid over a potential return, say reports
  • The Juventus forward has been linked with a move away from Serie A this season
  • Ronaldo cut off all ties with Madrid when he moved to Juventus in 2018
  • But the ties are being remade with Ronaldo showing his love for Madrid online

Cristiano Ronaldo is rebuilding bridges at Real Madrid and has approached the LaLiga club over a potential return, according to reports.

The Portuguese forward has been linked with a Juventus exit over the next year despite joining the Italian club for around £100million in the summer of 2018.

Since his arrival in Turin, Ronaldo has won back-to-back Serie A titles and won the Serie A Footballer of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards in his debut season.

Cristiano Ronaldo is reaching out to Real Madrid over a potential return to Spain, say reports

The 35-year-old has been linked with a move away from current club Juventus this season

But according to Spanish news outlet Marca, the 35-year-old is contemplating a return to Madrid and has reached out to the Spanish giants to try and orchestrate a move.

The report claims that the striker, who scored 450 goals in 438 matches for Los Blancos between 2009 and 2018, cut off contact with Real Madrid completely after swapping Madrid for Turin two years ago.

Ronaldo only stayed in contact with Real Madrid full-back and close friend Marcelo at the club but that situation changed when the Portugal winger asked Florentino Perez for a seat at the Santiago Bernabeu to watch last March’s El Clasico contest.

The Real Madrid president granted the request and Ronaldo shared his delight at watching his former side beat arch-rivals Barcelona 2-0 on their way to last season’s LaLiga title.

The forward has also shown off his close relationship with his former team-mates in recent months. When Portugal faced Spain in October, Ronaldo was photographed with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos after the game and even gave the defender his match shirt after their friendly draw.

Earlier this week, Ronaldo also took photographs with Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic, who he played with in Spain, after Portugal’s win over Croatia in the Nations League.

Ronaldo could be moved on by Juventus this season as the club desperately needs to cut down on their wage bill due to financial issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The winger is understood to earn £540,000-a-week at the Turin club.

However, the 35-year-old may opt to stay in Italy due to the tax rules in the country, with external income taxed at a flat rate of €100,000 unlike in other nations.

But Marca state that Madrid are not expecting a Ronaldo return this year due to the astronomical finances that would accompany the deal.
