Declan Rice labels Moyes as West Ham’s ‘best ever manager’ after Europe win

Declan Rice has hailed David Moyes as West Ham's best-ever manager – after the Scotsman led the Hammers to European glory.

Jarrod Bowen struck gold in the 90th minute for West Ham on Wednesday evening. Bowen beat the Fiorentina offside trap to find himself one-on-one with Pietro Terracciano, before the Englishman calmly lifted the ball over the shot-stopper to send West Ham ahead.

And with the Hammers in dreamland, as they celebrated their first major European trophy since 1965, Rice wasn't short of praise for Moyes. Despite narrowly avoiding relegation this season, Rice labelled Moyes as the Hammers' greatest-ever manager.

He said: "I want to say a big mention for the manager. There's been times this year, where he's been tested.

"There was a period where a lot of the fanbase wanted him out because the results weren't going well. But if you actually look at his time at this club… he come in, saved us.

"Pellegrini then come in, he comes back, saved us. Then got Europe two years in a row and has now won that. I think he's up there as West Ham's best-ever manager now, honestly, it has to be said."

Wednesday evening could prove to be the ultimate parting gift for Rice – who has been strongly linked with a move away from the East End of London. Rice has made his desire to play Champions League football clear in the past.

And the Englishman has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United and Arsenal, but in recent weeks Bayern Munich have emerged as the frontrunners to his signature.

However, Rice added: "There is interest from other clubs but ultimately I still have two years left at West Ham. I love this club and I love playing for this club."
