Declan Rice’s reaction seen as Arsenal team-mate Havertz drops ‘disasterclass’

Arsenal fans have spotted Declan Rice’s hilarious reaction to team-mate Kai Havertz during his “disasterclass” against Fulham.

Havertz made his third consecutive Premier League start of the season for Arsenal as they dropped two points at home to the Cottagers. The Gunners’ £65million summer signing has not quite come into his own yet in a red and white shirt and Saturday’s display marked his weakest performance yet.

He could have scored his first goal for Mikel Arteta’s side in the first-half when he failed to send the ball into an empty net due to some outstanding defending. But the German struggled more and more as the game went on, much to the frustration of fans and apparently his team-mates too.

The 24-year-old had another chance to level the score for Arsenal after they conceded in the first minute of the game. But he was caught on his heels rather than gambling as the ball was fizzed across goal for a tap-in by Bukayo Saka, with team-mate Rice seen flailing his arms in frustration and looking at the sky.

The attacking-midfielder’s confidence appeared shot as even the most basic of link-up play eluded him. Gabriel Martinelli was hoping for a through ball but instead received a pass behind him which almost went into touch, as Rice stretched out his arms in confusion.

Before being subbed off by Arteta in the 56th minute, Havertz received the ball in space, but instead of driving with the ball made a tame pass back to Rice, which was intercepted. Rice, at this point beyond exasperation, looked back at his struggling team-mate and told him there were other better passing options available.

The Gunners faithful picked up on the recurring patterns involving Havertz’s blunders and Rice, who has in contrast hit the ground running at the Emirates since his club record transfer from West Ham.

One Twitter user wrote: “Rice’s reaction says it all,” while another tweeted: “Look at Rice's reaction. Man is tired!”

A third added: “Rice’s reaction. Other players know he [Havertz] is s***,” and a fourth fumed: “Disasterclass. I’m tired of him.”

Others chimed in by venting: “Ahh my God why did Arteta sign this guy,” and: “We just have to admit we can’t save him.”
