Liverpool star Diogo Jota was filmed appearing to tell referee Chris Kavanagh he should dive to win his side a foul.
The Portuguese forward continued his incredible run of form since arriving from Wolves, making it eight goals in his first 12 games.
Getting his head onto a whipped cross from Andy Robertson for the second goal in a 3-0 win over Leicester, Jurgen Klopp’s depleted side seemed to have everything their own way.
But footage has emerged of Jota suggesting he should have been more deceptive to get an advantage over the Foxes.
In the clip, there are 12 minutes left at Anfield and the Reds are chasing a third goal – which would eventually come from Roberto Firmino.
Neco Williams plays the ball down the wing in his own half to Jota, who is coming under pressure from James Justin.
The Portuguese forward cannot keep control of the ball, though, as it goes over the sideline from the Englishman’s’ tackle.
After a moment of deliberation, referee Kavanagh decides to give a throw-in to the Brendan Rodgers’ away side.
But the 23-year-old is not happy and moves his arms to indicate a push as he looks at the referee.
Moments later, Sky Sports’ cameras appear to catch him saying: “Next time I dive.”
This footage was shared on Reddit on Monday morning, where the Anfield faithful heaped praise on their new forward for standing up for himself.
“I f***ing love this man,” one supporter said.
Another commented: “You know the lad is full of confidence when he’s saying things like that to the red. Long may it continue.”
While a third simply said: “Big respect to Jota.”
Liverpool’s win puts them level on 20 points at the top of the Premier League table with Tottenham, who only lead on account of their higher goal difference.
And Jota’s latest goal breaks a record that leaves historic rivals Manchester United embarrassed.
