Edinson Cavani admits he spoke with Angel Di Maria about Man Utd

Edinson Cavani spoke to Manchester United flop Angel Di Maria before joining the Red Devils on a free.

Cavani played alongside former Red Devils winger Di Maria at Paris Saint-Germain, and picked his brains, as well as Ander Herrera's, on what United is like.

Herrera had positive things to say about Old Trafford.

But it is less likely that Di Maria would have been full of praise for the Red Devils, given he had a torrid time in the north of England.

United signed Di Maria in 2014, parting with £60million and tying him down for the next five years. But the Argentine left after just one season.

His wife Jorgelina Cardoso later gave her thoughts on the "horrible" experience, referring to England as a "s***hole".

Di Maria is currently at PSG, and played alongside Cavani last season.

On the conversations he had about the Red Devils before agreeing terms on deadline day, Cavani told Manchester United's official website: "I spoke with Ander a lot, as well as other team-mates, like Angel Di Maria, who I was also with at Paris.

"It was genuinely getting to the last minute and I called Ander to have a chat.

"I have a lot of admiration for Ander, for the kind of person he is, and I had the feeling that his words were going to help me out, by telling me a bit about what it was like at United.

"And so yes, it's true that after I'd finished talking with Ander, we came to an agreement here with the club.

"I hadn't known Ander for too long, but we formed and enjoyed a close friendship during that time at PSG, and, today, we are still very good mates."
