Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles pictured in Man Utd training for first time

New Manchester United signings Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles have been pictured training with their team-mates for the first time.

The pair joined Premier League giants United on transfer deadline day with Telles in the squad for Saturday’s win over Newcastle.

Cavani could not feature due to quarantine rules though could now feature against former club PSG in the Champions League this week.

The pair were both pictured in training on Sunday as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prepares his squad for Tuesday’s clash.

Cavani was snapped trying some sprints having been recently seen on a treadmill looking to improve his fitness.

The Uruguayan has not played since March having left Ligue 1 giants PSG at the end of his contract last season.

Telles was seen alongside his fellow new signing with the left-back having joined United from Porto.

Pictures from training also showed close work with the football as United look to build on a 4-1 win over Newcastle.

The Red Devils had been beaten 6-1 by Tottenham before the international break though scored three quick goals to see off the Magpies.

And boss Solskjaer has hinted that those who did well will keep their places despite plenty of competition within the squad.

He said: “Of course, I get questions about our players when they play and why they don’t play.

“We have many good players and it’s about taking your chances when you do get them. Juan [Mata] has definitely done so.

”Juan is playing fantastic. He is so professional and everyone in the team knows his qualities. He has been so patient, waiting for the chance.

“[Daniel James’s] strength, you know, is his incredible speed. Today, I thought he showed productivity and trusted himself. We work with all the players and tell them to express themselves and show what they’ve got. Juan and Bruno [Fernandes] were in the pockets and Dan and Marcus were working hard to run in behind them and be positive.

”All of them did fantastic but I’m very pleased for Dan. He’s been away with Wales and missed a few games for us with a bad cold. Today, it was a very good performance by Dan.”
