England fans are calling for Jordan Pickford to be dropped by Gareth Southgate after the goalkeeper’s latest howler against Denmark on Wednesday night.

The Three Lions are currently trailing 1-0 in their Nations League clash with Kasper Hjulmand’s side at Wembley, with former Tottenham man Christian Eriksen breaking the deadlock from the penalty spot after 35 minutes.

Referee Jesus Gil Manzano’s decision to award the visitors a spot-kick was highly controversial, nevertheless, having penalised Kyle Walker for a soft tussle with Thomas Delaney in the box.

Though while replays appeared to show that Walker had not obstructed Delaney too heavily, the Manchester City defender was not exactly helped by Pickford, who was caught in no man’s land behind him when the ball was played in.

The Everton goalkeeper, who has produced a few errors for the Toffees of late, was far too hesitant in coming out and claiming the ball.

And as a result, Three Lions supporters are now calling for him to be dropped on Twitter.

One wrote: “This is just ridiculous. Never a penalty but what is Pickford doing??”

“What is the point of Pickford still playing for England,” asked another.

A third fan said: “Southgate needs to sort it out and Pickford doesn’t even deserve to represent England, what an absolute shambles.”

“Surely Pickford is running out of chances now, looks lost in goal,” wrote another.

While one supporter came to an extremely damning conclusion: “Pickford should be nowhere near the England number 1 shirt”.

England have a mountain to climb in the second half after Harry Maguire was sent off for receiving two yellow cards in the opening 45 minutes.

The Manchester United centre-back first picked up a booking for a strong tackle on Yussuf Poulsen, before being brandished another for a similarly poor challenge on Kasper Dolberg.

It’s fair to say Maguire is in dire straits right now, having produced a string of below-par performances for United so far in the new season.

And after his latest blow on international duty, Red Devils fans are desperate for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to take him out of the firing line against Newcastle on Saturday.
