Harry Maguire could be seen shouting at referee Danny Makkelie after Mikkel Damsgaard's free-kick fired Denmark ahead against England at Wembley – leaving fans absolutely baffled.
England are currently taking on Denmark in the Euro 2020 semi-finals, with the score locked at 1-1 after an own goal from Simon Kjaer cancelled out Damsgaard's superb set-piece on the half-hour mark.
The Sampdoria midfielder sent a long-range effort flying past Jordan Pickford and into the back of the net to break the deadlock in London, before England captain Maguire was seen screaming at referee Makkelie about something unbeknown to fans on social media.
One supporter wrote on Twitter: "Don’t know why Maguire was screaming at the ref after the goal. Scream at [Luke] Shaw for giving away a penalty on the edge of the box.
Another tried to work out what the Man Utd defender's issue was: "Was Maguire saying the free kick Denmark scored with wasn't a foul? I read his lips saying 'foul'".
A third asked: "What exactly was Maguire complaining about there?"
Another said: "Look at Maguire! What's he calling for??"
While one exclaimed: "WHY IS MAGUIRE SHOUTING".
It remains unclear why Maguire was protesting to Makkelie, but former England defender Gary Neville was adamant that Pickford should have kept out Damsgaard's free-kick.
Neville said on ITV Sport during the half-time break: "Jordan Pickford should have done better, the goal was coming, Denmark was getting through was way too easily.
"It is a long way out, if the ball goes into the corner then it is fair enough, but that is in the middle.
"He put himself in a situation where he cannot see the ball.
"Our full backs have to make sure they stay attached to our centre backs. Shaw and [Kyle] Walker are going to press the wing backs way too early and leaving Maguire and [John] Stones exposed."
