Erling Haaland was so impressed by Jude Bellingham's assist on his Borussia Dortmund debut that he gave the midfielder a round of applause on the pitch during the game.
BVB boss Lucien Favre showed his faith in the 17-year-old by picking him for Wednesday’s pre-season friendly clash with Rheindorf Altach during the club’s training camp in Switzerland.
And it didn't take long for the former Birmingham ace to show exactly why the Bundesliga outfit shelled out £22.75m on him and leave Manchester United fans ruing missing out on the star.
With just 14 minutes on the clock, Bellingham intercepted a pass high up the pitch and fed Erling Haaland, who squared for Gio Reyna to slot home.
But it was the youngster's contribution for the third goal which left his Norwegian team-mate clapping his hands.
Bellingham made a smart near-post run after spotting Immanuel Pherai race to the byline before he backheeled the ball for Haaland to smash in from close range.
Speaking afterwards, he said: "I loved every minute of it. It was great to familiarise myself with the boys and finally have some competition in black and yellow. I’m buzzing. We got some goals, had some fun. I really enjoyed it.
"I’m confident in my ability but the boys made it so easy for me. They were outstanding at times and we played some really good stuff even though it is our first game back. I am really happy to be part of this team."
Jadon Sancho 'bemused' by Man Utd transfer negotiations as Dortmund stand firm
Manchester United missed out on Bellingham in January after reportedly refusing to match the £56,000-a-week wages offered by Dortmund.
And despite the club signing signing Bruno Fernandes instead, Red Devils fans were still gutted at letting Bellingham slip through their fingers.
"Bellingham already with an assist for #bvb. Shame that #mufc missed out on another generational talent. Hopefully Mason Greenwood will make us forget about it," tweeted one Red Devils fan.

"Dortmund got a STEAL in Bellingham. Wow!" gushed a second.
"I tell you what Jude Bellingham looked quality in the Championship and he’s brought that quality over to the Bundesliga," added a third.
"He’ll be amazing when he comes to us after using Dortmund as a stepping stone. #mufc"
