EXCLUSIVE: Brentford line up move for Wolves defender Nathan Collins

EXCLUSIVE: Brentford eye deal for Wolves’ Nathan Collins – a year after his £20.5m Molineux move – as Thomas Frank eyes a ready-made Premier League centre back

  • Brentford want Wolves defender Nathan Collins and value him at around £20m
  • Thomas Frank is seeking to add Premier League experience to his squad
  • But Wolves hope to profit on the £20.5m they paid for Collins last summer

Brentford are lining up a move for Wolves defender Nathan Collins.

Collins only joined Wolves last summer from Burnley for £20.5million after the Midlands side held off late interest from rival clubs including Spurs to sign him.

But he could be on the move again after being targeted by Bees boss Thomas Frank, who is hoping to reinforce his defence this summer with a Premier League ready centre-back.

Brentford value Irish defender Collins at around the £20m mark but Wolves will hope to make a profit on the money they spent to bring the Irish international to Molineux in any deal.

While there are players in Julen Lopetegui’s squad Wolves were actively looking to offload this summer, Collins was not one of them and he is well thought of at the club.

However, the 22 year-old has not been a regular under manager Lopetegui so they would be open to allowing him to move on in order to raise funds.

Brentford have already completed two permanent transfers this summer, signing goalkeeper Mark Flekken ahead of David Raya’s expected departure, with Spurs leading the chase for the Spanish stopper.

Brentford have also made forward Kevin Schade’s loan move into a £22m full-time switch.
