Fans spot Carragher ‘going missing’ only returning to comms as Liverpool score

Football fans were quick to spot Jamie Carragher going "missing" from his commentary duties until Cody Gakpo broke the deadlock at Anfield.

Sky had rolled out their A-team for Super Sunday, as Manchester United and Liverpool renewed their hostilities. Gary Neville and Carragher provided colour to the broadcast, but as United dominated it was Neville who had the most to say.

That was until Gakpo netted with the Reds' first shot on target during the clash. Carragher heaped praise on the Dutchman – claiming t was his signature finish when he was at PSV.

One fan tweeted: "Carragher has been quiet up until that goal, why is he shouting?!?"

"Carragher didn’t say a word for 20 mins then until they scored, absolutely disgraceful having him commentate on Liverpool's games," a second fumed. While a third added: "I forgot Carragher was on comms!"

"Taken a goal for the Scousers to hear a peep from Carragher," another added. And a fifth picked up on something else: "Why's Carragher saying that was Gakpo's signature move for PSV? I can guarantee he was not sat at home watching the Eredivisie."

However, Carragher soon had even more reason to be in good voice as Darwin Nunez and Gakpo's quick-fire double after half-time sent the Reds into dreamland.

It was now Neville's turn to be subdued – as United struggled to get anything going under the period of United pressure.
