Fans have been left in disbelief after Tim Sherwood's howler on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday.
Sherwood unintentionally left the Sky Soccer Saturday pundits in hysterics when he had no idea which way Preston North End or Queens Park Rangers were shooting as he covered their Championship clash.
The former Tottenham Hotspur manager has been a regular on the show that provides live updates and opinions on the weekend football action. He was entrusted with overseeing the relatively tame and unexciting match between Preston and the North Londoners.
However, barely minutes after the second half began, Sherwood started shouting excitedly. "Oh it looks like a penalty shout for Preston. It has to be a penalty,” a hyper Sherwood said. “Dozzell (Andre) dives in, he toes it away, he (the referee) hasn’t given it, or he might be going back to it here”.

If we are being fair to the ex-Aston Villa boss, he did accurately explain the depiction of events. Dozzell did over commit to the challenge, bringing Preston striker Ched Evans down in the penalty area.
But seconds later, Sherwood began to go very pale when he heard his fellow pundit Clinton Morrison shout “what?”.

As Sherwood began to bite his bottom lip, Morrison then quickly explained, “I don’t think it is a penalty, I think he (Evans) is defending. Look! He’s defending. It’s the other way around, he’s defending the free-kick!”
As the rest of the team realised what had happened, they struggled to contain themselves. In particular, former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson struggled to control himself, exploding into a fit of laughter.
“QPR are kicking that way,” Merson laughed, while thrusting his arm to his left-hand side.
Fans were also left stunned by the error. One wrote on Twitter: "Ban him from everything to do with football. Disgraceful." Another added: "Some people wanted him as manager," alongside a crying-laughing emoji.
Another fan added: Imagine that being a female pundit, they would be getting slaughtered."
Other fans saw the funny side, with one saying "class" and another "quality".
Preston certainly would have been happy if it was a penalty as they were narrowly beaten 1-0 by the West Londoners.
Jimmy Dunne’s second half goal proved to be enough to secure a vital three points for QPR as they won the clash 1-0. The result drags them back into the play-off places.
Preston dropped down to seventh position, but only trail QPR by goals scored, due to the fact they share the same number of points and an equal goal difference.
