Rio Ferdinand’s reactions throughout Man United’s draw with Galatasaray have now been revealed and it’s safe to say the pundit endured a rollercoaster of emotions.

The Red Devils were held to a 3-3 draw with their Turkish counterparts on Wednesday night, as their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League knockout rounds took a big hit.

After leading for the majority of the match, United were pegged back to eventually earn just a point from their travels – leaving them bottom of Group A.

And United legend Ferdinand was on hand to watch it all unfold, as he was part of TNT Sports’ commentary team for the broadcast.

In a video that has since been posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Ferdinand’s reactions throughout the game were revealed and it’s fair to say they were hilarious.

After Alejandro Garnacho opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the match, Ferdinand quickly jumped to his feet and pumped his fist in the air.

He had a similar reaction for Bruno Fernandes’ stunning long-range strike shortly after, but this time offered an even more shocked expression.

Then, when Hakim Ziyech pulled one back for the hosts in the 29th minute, Ferdinand was visibly frustrated and offered little reaction.

However, when Scott McTominay restored their two-goal lead, Ferdinand could be heard shouting ‘Yes!’ as he performed yet another fist-pump.

Then, for Ziyech’s second goal and Kerem Akturkoglu’s crucial late equaliser, Ferdinand could only offer a muted reaction, as he sat stunned in the commentary box.

The former defender later claimed that ‘immaturity’ and ‘boredom’ played a key role in Manchester United‘s defensive collapse on the night.

Erik ten Hag’s men twice led by two goals in the Champions League clash in Istanbul, but failed to hold on and their chances of making the knockout stages are now hanging by a thread.

Bruno Fernandes’ long-range strike left Ferdinand in awe during TNT Sports’ broadcast

‘In the first half I was asking them to be uncomfortable and enjoy sometimes being penned back on the edge of your box, bank of four and a bank of five and not allowing a big gap between the midfield and the defenders. They were doing that,’ Ferdinand said on TNT Sports.

‘But it’s about doing that consistently, doing that rep after rep after rep. And that’s where I think sometimes there’s maybe a little bit of immaturity, maybe boredom creeps in and one jumps out and then they go “Oh, we’re out of shape”, and they look very open at those times.

‘That’s when you need the voice to say “Get back in with me, keep it the way it is”. Because they’ve got the players on the break, Rasmus Hojlund on the break is phenomenal, the manager said that’s one of the reasons he’s in the team today.

‘Antony had the beating of the full back today and Garnacho could get in at will. When you’ve got those three types of players on the counter-attack, you can afford to sit back and be compact, and they were at times, but not for long enough periods.’
