The door may have opened for Arsenal to sign Dusan Vlahovic this month, with Fiorentina ‘keen’ to sell him whilst interest is at its peak. Mikel Arteta has reportedly prioritised a striker in his transfer plans, and there are few currently more sought-after than Vlahovic.
The 21-year-old has shot to prominence at Fiorentina, where he’s flourished into one of Europe’s most prolific goalscorers.
He has netted 39 times in 61 appearances in all competitions across the last two seasons and has no intention to extend his contract in Florence.
And his form, blended with his desire to leave Fiorentina, has attracted mass interest, including from north London.

According to CBS Sports, Fiorentina are keen to cash in on Vlahovic before his contract expires in the summer of 2023.
The Serie A outfit believe they can get great value for a player who has relied on penalties and is overachieving his expected goals (xG), leaving the door open for a deal this month.
Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Real Sociedad’s Alexander Isak and Lille’s Jonathan David are also on Arteta’s striker shortlist.
But Vlahovic appears to be the primary target, although the Gunners are yet to submit an official bid for his services despite reports in Italy.
It goes without saying that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 30, and Alexandre Lacazette, 32 are in the latter stages of their prime years.
But both stars face uncertain futures at the Emirates Stadium anyway, with Aubameyang recently losing the captaincy and Lacazette’s contract expiring this summer.
Eddie Nketiah is a younger option, but he also seems to be heading for the exit door, searching for more regular minutes.
And Arteta has confirmed the club are actively looking for opportunities to strengthen in the current transfer window.
He told reporters: “With the amount of things and the way we want to evolve the squad, we have to maximise every window in many different ways.”
“We are alert. Edu and his team are working very hard because we know exactly what we need to do.
“Whether we can accomplish that in January or in the summer is a different question related to other stuff, but we are there.
“If it is the right player and we can afford it and we can do what we want to do, we will discuss it and make the best possible decision. We are open.”
