- Manchester United have cooled interest in PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo

- Gakpo has plenty of Premier League interest, most strongly from Southampton
- Everton, Fulham, Leeds and Nottingham Forest have all expressed some interest
Southampton are determined to sign PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo with Manchester United no longer pursuing the Dutchman.
Gakpo has been linked to United all summer and said on Monday that a switch to Old Trafford remains a ‘serious option’.
But Sportsmail understands United are no longer pursuing the winger as they progress an £84million deal for Ajax’s Antony, opening the door for other Premier League sides, including Southampton Everton, Fulham, Leeds, Nottingham Forest, and Arsenal to express interest.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is keen on landing the 23-year-old winger this summer
Gakpo’s stock elevated last season as he picked up an incredible 12 assists. He has three goals in four games already this season.
Despite being just 23, the Dutch international has already managed 43 goals in 146 games for PSV and won the Eredivisie.
The Telegraph report that a £21.4million bid has already been rejected by PSV from Southampton but the Saints remain keen on making the Dutchman their marquee signing of the summer.
Southampton have had a mixed start to the season and they welcome Chelsea to St Mary’s on Tuesday sat 13th in the league table.

Everton’s Frank Lampard and Leeds’ Jesse Marsch are both understood to also hold an interest in Gakpo – but it is Southampton who are pushing on to try and land the Dutchman
They have made five signings so far but are now exploring the potential of a late move for Gakpo.
Boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is determined to add more firepower to his side, but the same can be said of Everton, Fulham, Leeds and Nottingham Forest.
Speaking at the weekend, Gakpo, a PSV academy graduate, said of his future in light of Ajax star Antony heading for Manchester United: ‘Fun for [Antony] but for me and my future, I think that has no influence.
‘It’s like a puzzle so in the next few days I will see which puzzle fits best. For me, it would certainly not be bad to stay at PSV. We’ll see.’
