Georgina Rodriguez ‘pushing’ Cristiano Ronaldo towards Man Utd exit

Cristiano Ronaldo’s desire to leaveManchester Unitedthis summer is helping to be driven by his girlfriendGeorgina Rodriguez, according to reports in Spain.

Ronaldohas told United that won’t fulfil the 12 months left on his contract and thathe wants a transferin the summer transfer window. The 37-year-old is unhappy with United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League and with their recruitment efforts to strengthen the squad.

The Portuguese forward has not travelled withErik ten Hag’s squad for the pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia due tofamily reasons. In the meantime rumours continue to swirl about his future, with Chelsea, Napoli, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid among the clubs linked with him.

It is not just Ronaldo who wants out of Old Trafford this summer. According to Spanish newspaperSport, Georgina wants to return to Spain, with Madrid her preferred destination.

Ronaldo currently lives with his girlfriend near Manchester, but has spent time in his native Portugal,keeping fit in Lisbonwhile his team-mates are away. Hehas been with Georgina since 2016 , when they first met at a Dolce and Gabbana event in Madrid while she was working as a sales assistant for Gucci.

The couple have two children together: a daughter, Alana Martina, who was born in November 2017, and a baby daughter born in April this year. Tragically, theylost a baby boyduring the birth earlier this year.

They live with Ronaldo's other children, 11-year-old Cristiano Jr, and twins Mateo and Eva, four. Georgina, who now works as a model, is from Jaca, north-eastern Spain, but used to live in Madrid, where she first met Ronaldo, when he was still playing for Real Madrid.

United have made it clear that they will not sell Ronaldo this summer. Ten Hag has said he is planning for the 2022/23 season with the veteran forward and evensuggested he could extend his current dealbeyond June 2023.

“I am well informed, he also has an option, no?” he said when asked by reporters in Melbourne about Ronaldo’s future. So, yes [Ronaldo could extend his stay].”

Ronaldo doesn’t appear to have many options for a transfer, due in part to his colossal £500,000-a-week wages. Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone had appeared keen tobring him back to the Spanish capital , but they reportedlycannot affordthe United striker.
