Graziano Pelle on West Ham transfer shortlist as alternative to Josh King

West Ham are drawing up a shortlist of fall-back options if they fail with a renewed bid for Bournemouth’s Josh King.

The Hammers had a £13m offer for King turned down during the last transfer window and he remains their top target, with the player keen on the move.

But Bournemouth are determined not to let the 28-year-old leave on the cheap, despite him being out of contract at the end of the season.

And West Ham are drawing up contingency plans because they are determined not to overpay for a player available for free in a few months’ time.

One player on their list is former Southampton striker Graziano Pelle, who has just left Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng.

But the 35-year-old is also wanted by clubs in Italy and currently favours a return to his homeland.

Hammers boss David Moyes wants more competition for places up front with his side heavily reliant on Michail Antonio’s goals.

And he is also planning for the long term with Sebastien Haller’s future at the club in doubt after another disappointing season.

West Ham have also asked to be kept informed of developments with Christian Eriksen, who is set to leave Inter this month.

But Eriksen is hoping for a move to Paris St-Germain and a return to the Premier League for the former Tottenham forward is not currently on the cards.
