Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been mocked by fans for his pronunciation of Liverpool stars Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch’s names.

Guardiola was outlining the key threats posed by Liverpool ahead of Saturday’s eagerly-anticipated clash at the Etihad Stadium.

During his pre-match press conference, Guardiola said: ‘Salah of course, but now with Szoboszlai and Gravenberch.’

The way in which Guardiola pronounced Szoboszlai and Gravenberch certainly attracted a lot of attention.

Szoboszlai himself responded on Instagram with four laughing emojis after discovering that Guardiola referred to him as ‘Szvolazi’.

One user wrote: ‘Bro said “Szbolasie” and “Gravener”‘.

Another added: ‘Szoboszlai is gonna make sure he remembers his name tomorrow’.

In addition, another wrote: ‘He’s obviously talking about Sovlazie and governor. Come on man…don’t you know our own players?’.

Another user stated that it sounded like Guardiola said ‘Bolasie’ rather than Szoboszlai, in reference to former Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie, writing: ‘Swear he said Bolasie’.

Szoboszlai and Gravenberch both signed for Liverpool last summer from the Bundesliga, joining from RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich respectively.

So far Szoboszlai has made 17 appearances for Liverpool and has scored two goals, while he has provided two assists.

Gravenberch, meanwhile, also has two goals and two assists, having played 12 games.

City are top of the Premier League going into Saturday’s game and are one point ahead of Liverpool.
