Harvey Elliott has agreed to join Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan from Liverpool.
The 17-year-old has played nine times for the Reds' first-team since joining from Fulham last summer, and made two Premier League appearances for the Reds in their title winning campaign last season.
Liverpool rate Elliott extremely highly, and will hope that the first-team experience he picks up at Ewood Park – should the move be completed by Friday's 5pm deadline – will stand him in good stead to return to Anfield for the 2021/22 season.
Elliott's only appearance of this campaign came in the 7-2 victory at Lincoln City in Carabao Cup last month, but he failed to get off the bench in the penalty shootout defeat to Arsenal in the next round.
With Diogo Jota having arrived at the club from Wolves, and the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi still at Anfield, Elliott was set to struggle to get game-time under Jurgen Klopp this season.
The Reds are expected to sanction the loan departure of Harry Wilson to Cardiff City in the coming hours, while Ben Woodburn has joined Blackpool on another loan deal until January.
Meanwhile, midfielder Herbie Kane has joined Barnsley on a permanent deal for £1.25million.
The 21-year-old, who made two senior appearances for Liverpool, said : “I’m feeling good, excited and I’m looking forward to getting going. I want to score goals and hopefully I can do that here, look back and reflect on it at the end of the season.
“It’s a part of my game, trying to score goals from midfield as well as getting assists and helping the team – as much as I can do that, the better.”
