Arsenal transfer target Houssem Aouar may not be heading to the Emirates this summer, but he still had time to respond to a cheeky Instagram message from a Gunners supporter. Aouar had been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in the final few weeks of the transfer window with discussions taking place with Lyon.
Transfer deadline day LIVE
Mikel Arteta had been desperate to add some more creativity to his midfield and the 22-year-old has proven to be one of the best in his position.
He had attracted interest from other clubs as well, but Arsenal were seemingly in the best position to make a deal happen.
An opening bid worth a reported £32million was rejected by Lyon at the start of last week, but there was some optimism that an agreement may take place.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas had been very open about the prospect of selling Aouar, but only for the right price.

However, Aouar announced at the weekend that he would be staying at the Groupama stadium.

“I wanted to continue the adventure with the club who raised me.
“We must raise our heads because we have to do better.”

Thomas Partey shirt number: Arsenal transfer target has four options
Arsenal have now moved their attention to Thomas Partey with the negotiations moving quickly on transfer deadline day.
The Gunners have reportedly met the Ghana international’s £45m release clause and he’s jetting into London this evening to complete the paperwork on a move.
But it’s clear some Arsenal fans are still disappointed that Aouar won’t be joining this summer.
And one Gunners supporter caught the attention of the Frenchman with a tongue-in-cheek message on Instagram.
Twitter user @Mhuncho_1 posted a screenshot of his direct messages which showed a message to Aouar which read: “We need you here in Arsenal broooo.”
And his message got a response from Aouar himself as he replied: “Hahaha bro,” with a laughing emoji.
The Lyon star also ‘liked’ the Arsenal fan’s initial message.
