How 8 players fared moving between Chelsea and Arsenal amid Abraham interest

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is widely expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and the 23-year-old has been linked with a move across London to join Arsenal.

According to a report from the Telegraph, the Gunners are interested in Abraham, who struggled for game time under Thomas Tuchel last season.

Should Abraham make the move from Chelsea to Arsenal, he will become the latest player to cross the North West London divide.

Daily Star Sport has taken a look at how eight previous players who moved between the two clubs fared.

Ashley Cole – Arsenal to Chelsea

The most controversial transfer on this list, Cole was actually fined £100,000 – reduced to £75,000 on appeal – for meeting with Chelsea to discuss a potential transfer without Arsenal's permission in 2005.

The left-back would go on to sign a contract extension with the Gunners just over a month later, before leaving to join Chelsea the following year.

Cole spent eight seasons at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and four FA Cups.

William Gallas – Chelsea to Arsenal

As part of the deal which saw Cole join Chelsea, Gallas made the move to Arsenal.

After the transfer was completed, Chelsea claimed that Gallas had threatened to "score an own goal or get himself sent off" in a bid to force through a move – a claim which Gallas denied.

The defender spent four years at Arsenal, failing to win a single trophy before leaving to join north London rivals Tottenham.

Lassana Diarra – Chelsea to Arsenal

Diarra made a total of 31 appearances for Chelsea, largely featuring at right-back instead of in midfield.

With his contract coming to an end at Chelsea, the Blues sold Diarra to Arsenal in order to avoid losing him for free.

However, the France international lasted just six months at Arsenal, joining Portsmouth after expressing concerns over a lack of first-team football.

Yossi Benayoun – Chelsea to Arsenal (loan)

The Israel international joined Arsenal on loan from Chelsea in 2011 after struggling for regular action at Stamford Bridge.

Benayoun made a total of 25 appearances and scored six goals in all competitions for Arsenal that season, before joining West Ham on loan the following season.

Petr Cech – Chelsea to Arsenal

After losing his place as Chelsea's first choice in between the sticks to Thibaut Courtois, Cech made the switch to Arsenal in 2015 for a reported £10m.

Cech replaced Wojciech Szczesny, who joined Roma on loan for two seasons before completing a permanent move to Juventus.

The veteran goalkeeper spent four seasons at the Emirates and helped them win the FA Cup before retiring and eventually returning to Chelsea to become their technical director.

Olivier Giroud – Arsenal to Chelsea

Widely considered one of the most underrated strikers in world football, Giroud left Arsenal to join Chelsea as part of a transfer merry-go-round involving the two London clubs and Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal ended up signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund, while Michy Batshuayi made the move to the Bundesliga on loan.

Giroud spent four seasons at Chelsea, before completing a move to AC Milan earlier this month.

David Luiz – Chelsea to Arsenal

One of Frank Lampard's first decisions during his stint in charge of Chelsea was to sell David Luiz to Arsenal for £8m.

Luiz spent just two error-prone seasons at the Emirates and left the club this summer when his contract came to an end.

Willian – Chelsea to Arsenal

After failing to agree terms on a new contract with Chelsea, Willian completed a free transfer to Arsenal.

The forward put pen to paper on a three-year deal but failed to make an immediate impact, managing just one goal in 37 appearances in all competitions last season.
