How Chelsea fans can watch new signings and when they play during international break

Chelsea signed off for the international break in style with a comfortable 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday. And now, as Blues boss Frank Lampard gets a head-start on his preparations for a busy month ahead, several of his players link up with their national teams as club football takes a back seat for the next 10 days.

Several Chelsea players, including most of the club’s summer signings, will be in action for their countries over the next week and a half, with Lampard hoping they can report back to Cobham injury-free with the Blues facing Southampton, Sevilla and Manchester United in their next three games.

With Chelsea’s stars dotted across the globe, here is how and when Blues fans can watch their new signings in action.

Kai Havertz

Havertz links up with Germany after showing signs of settling in at Chelsea following a shaky debut against Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is part of a typically strong-looking German panel for their looming triple-header.

Germany begin the international window with a home friendly against Turkey on Wednesday (7.45pm UK time), which is being shown on the Sky Sports red button.

The 2014 World Cup winners then turn their attention to a Nations League double-bill, away to Ukraine on Saturday (7.45pm) and home to Switzerland on Tuesday (7.45pm), with the former available through the red button and the latter set to be shown on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football.

Havertz, who has seven caps to his name already, will start against Turkey although it remains to be seen if he can elbow his way into Joachim Low’s starting XI for the Nations League having been a substitute in their recent encounters with Spain and Switzerland.

Timo Werner

The 24-year-old striker will miss Germany’s friendly with Turkey after contracting a cold, although Low expects him to link up with the squad ahead of the trip to Ukraine.

Werner has an impressive record for Germany with 12 goals in 31 appearances.

The £47.5million signing from RB Leipzig opened his Chelsea account in the Carabao Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur, and was also on target for his country against Spain last month.

Ben Chilwell

Chilwell, who bagged a goal and an assist in Chelsea’s win over Palace, will not be involved in England’s friendly with Wales on Thursday after breaching coronavirus regulations.

The 23-year-old left-back attended Chelsea teammate Tammy Abraham’s birthday party along with Jadon Sancho, with all three players being removed from Gareth Southgate’s squad as a result.

Southgate is yet to confirm whether or not the trio will be involved in England’s Nations League games with Belgium and Denmark.

Blues midfielder Mason Mount will be involved, however, with the Wales game (8pm) to be shown on ITV. On Sunday, Sky Sports Main Event will show the Belgium clash (5pm) and it is expected to be the same channel for Denmark on Wednesday 14th (7.45pm).

Hakim Ziyech

Ziyech has been included in the Morocco squad despite missing the first few weeks of the season with a knee injury.

Morocco face Senegal and DR Congo in friendlies on Friday and Tuesday.

If he is involved, Chelsea supporters will hope that he does not aggravate his knee problem ahead of the start of their Champions League campaign.

Edouard Mendy

Mendy could feature against new Chelsea teammate Ziyech for Senegal against Morocco. The game kicks off at 7pm UK time but is not being shown on British television.

Mendy has immediately established himself as Lampard’s first-choice keeper ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga following his move from Rennes, starting against Spurs in the Carabao Cup and Palace in the league.

The 28-year-old has eight caps for Senegal having made his debut in 2018.

Thiago Silva

Silva is still going strong for Brazil at 36 with the veteran centre-back included in Tite’s squad for the Selecao’s World Cup qualifying double-header against Bolivia and Peru.

Silva has 89 caps for Brazil and helped his country win the 2019 Copa America.

Brazil’s clash with Bolivia kicks off at 1.30am on Saturday, while their game in Lima against Peru gets underway at 1am on Wednesday.

Malang Sarr

Sarr, who signed for Chelsea before joining Porto on loan, was not selected in the France under-21 squad for their games against Liechtenstein and Slovakia.
