How Chelsea’s starting XI looks with Achraf Hakimi after ‘matching’ PSG’s offer

Chelsea’s starting XI could look very different if they secure a deal for Achraf Hakimi after ‘matching’ PSG’s offer for the defender.

The Blues have made a stunning entrance into the race for the Inter Milan right-back by showing a willingness to pay £56.1m to match the French side.

With the Serie A champions looking to sell in order to generate funds, Thomas Tuchel is also expected to make wholesale changes to the squad he inherited from Frank Lampard in January.

And Daily Star Sport understands that it has seen Chelsea enter the race for Hakimi, matching PSG’s offer and being willing to sell three defenders to secure his signature.

Inter are reportedly trying to hold out for £69m, having bought the 22-year-old from Real Madrid for £36m last summer.

But Chelsea may have an edge as they are interested in making Emerson Palmieri and Andreas Christensen part of the San Siro side.

Centre back Fikayo Tomori is already on the verge of a £25m permanent move to AC Milan while the Blues are also willing to listen to offers for Tammy Abraham, Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi.

Should Hakimi make the move to Stamford Bridge, it would see him slot straight into a starting XI mainly made up of the Champions League winners.

The Moroccan would start in the right wing back position, which was taken up Reece James for most of the season.

But Tuchel may ask the Englishman to step into the back three alongside Thiago Silva.

With talks still to be offered for Antonio Rudiger’s contract extension, reports from the Mirror suggest Bayern Munich’s Nicklas Sule could arrive to fill the gap as the German side are willing to listen to offers.

Edouard Mendy would retain his position between the posts as well as left-back Ben Chilwell alongside midfield duo N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.

Kai Havertz and Mason Mount would partner in front of the sole centre-forward, who could still be Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, with the Blues possibly providing a solution to the German side’s replacement.
