Iker Casillas has had his say in the eternal debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Casillas ranks Ronaldo ahead of Messi because of how hard he has worked for his success

‘Cristiano always had huge desire to be the best, ever since he was a boy and I believe he has achieved that’, the Spaniard told ESPN.

‘If I have to compare him to Messi, what Cristiano has done is more impressive because we all know the talent Messi has, but Cristiano was determined and worked hard to be the best.

‘I feel we have been lucky to have been able to enjoy two phenomenal players.

‘For people that don’t know Cristiano, he can appear to be cocky and arrogant, but it’s totally the opposite.’

Between them, Messi and Ronaldo have collected 11 Ballon d’Ors, countless major honours and rewritten the record books.

And the pair are set to go head-to-head once again later this month, for the first time since Ronaldo left Real Madrid for Juventus in the summer of 2018.

Barcelona and Juve have been pitted together in the same Champions League group and will meet at Juventus Stadium on October 28.
