Salernitana boss Davide Nicola was so angry at one of his players during their Serie A clash with Fiorentina he removed his shoe and threatened his player.
Nicola – who has something of a Sam Allardyce reputation after steering Crotone clear of relegation – continues to perform miracles. Salernitana looked dead and buried at Christmas, and they were almost kicked out of the league.
However, three wins in the last three has placed them three points from safety. Nicola has transformed the Granata since his arrival, and he was spotted removing his shoe to demonstrate his point when his side briefly switched off.
Interestingly, the player closest to the shoe-wielding Nicola was Fiorentina's Igor.
And it was Igor's mistake that cost the Tuscan side the game when Federico Bonazzoli found the net to put Salernitana 2-1 up. As well as Salernitana's great escape, Fiorentina suffered a significant blow to their outside hopes of a European berth.
Salernitana still have a game in hand over teams above them, and Venezia, who are bottom, still have a trip to the Arechi Stadium.

What makes Salernitana's story even more amazing is their own fans wanted them kicked out of Serie A in December.
Ten years ago, Salernitana – when they were still in Serie D – were bought by Lazio's owners. However, when they prompted to the Serie A in the summer he was forced to sell the club but they couldn't find a buyer.
The deadline expired, and Salernitana were due to be removed from the top flight – with their fans even asking to be kicked out of the league – but a buyer was eventually found.
