Jack Wilshere claims Mesut Ozil could solve Arsenal’s problems in front of goal and would be a ‘big player’ under Mikel Arteta.. and he says ‘everyone will find out’ why German has been frozen out at the Emirates Stadium
- Arsenal are struggling in the league with five defeats in their first ten games
- Meanwhile, £350,000-a-week star Mesut Ozil is still exiled by the Gunners
- Jack Wilshere thinks Ozil would help improve Mikel Arteta’s dwindling side
Jack Wilshere believes Mesut Ozil would improve a misfiring Arsenal right now as the German would enhance the games of Alex Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Ozil has been exiled by current Gunners boss Mikel Arteta and has been left out of the north Londoners’ 25-man squads for the Premier League and Europa League.
Meanwhile, Arteta’s Arsenal are struggling on the pitch with five defeats in their opening ten league games following their 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Sunday.

The Gunners have scored just one goal from open-play since the start of October, with Wilshere – who left Arsenal in 2018 and is currently without a club following his release from West Ham last month – believes Ozil would boost Arteta’s chances of getting his side back on form.
Wilshere told Sky Sports News: ‘I think he’d be a big player in that team. I would love to see Ozil play in that team under Arteta but obviously that’s not happening at the moment.
‘He could get on the ball and feed the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette.
‘I loved playing with him. He was a top player. It’s a shame, but what is happening is happening, and no one knows but I’m sure everyone will find out one day.’

Wilshere is not the only former Arsenal player to call for Ozil to be reinstated in the Gunners squad, with Freddie Ljungberg lauding the 31-year-old German over his attacking qualities.
Ljungberg was Arsenal’s caretaker coach 12 months ago and made Ozil a key player in his Arsenal squad after the German was briefly exiled by his predecessor Unai Emery.
The Swede told The Athletic this month: ‘Mesut is a great football player, we know that. We all have different opinions and everybody needs to accept that people have different opinions.

‘What I tried to do, what I believed in, was that when you play teams who, on paper, you’re a bigger club than or you think they’ll have a low block and you need someone to unlock it, Mesut has the total quality to do that.
‘I think there is a space for a player like that in those kind of games.’
Wilshere, meanwhile, has been linked with a return to Arsenal on a free transfer but Arteta – who played alongside the English midfielder between 2011 and 2016 – revealed this month that he has not thought about this idea.
