Manchester United have not given up on signing Jadon Sancho despite failing to agree a fee with Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The Red Devils made Sancho their No.1 target in the summer transfer window, which finally drew to a close on Monday night.
They failed with a bid worth £90million plus add-ons last week, with Dortmund refusing to budge on their £108million asking price for the 20-year-old.
And after seeing their offer rejected, United instead turned to a last-minute deal for 18-year-old winger Amad Traore, who joined in a £27million switch from Atalanta.
Yet according to The Sun, United have told Sancho they will not turn their back on the move despite struggling to reach an agreement with Dortmund this summer.
The England international wanted to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, however he did not want to force a move by handing in a transfer request at Signal Iduna Park.
Doing so would have jeopardised his relationship with Dortmund if the transfer did not materialise.
However, Sancho is understood to have told close friends that he still expects to sign for United in the near future, with Red Devils chiefs set to revive their interest at the turn of the year.
The former Manchester City academy star registered 20 goals and as many assists for Dortmund last season, helping Lucien Favre’s side achieve a second-place finish in Bundesliga.
He has one goal and two assists to show for his first three appearances of the new campaign.
Nevertheless, if new recruit Traore lives up to the hype United may not need to sign him after all.
