Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly in regular contact with Jadon Sancho and has assured him that a deal to sign him is close.
Sancho remains at the top of United's transfer wishlist despite Borussia Dortmund's refusal to back down from their stance that he will not be sold in this transfer window.
Solskjaer is desperate to land Sancho and add him to his attacking options that already include Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
With less than three weeks to go before the window closes, United are running out time to sign Sancho.

But according to Norwegian outlet Dagbladet, Solskjaer has had private chats with Sancho about a transfer to Old Trafford.
The report says the United manager told the 20-year-old that a deal will be finalised soon after weeks of 'difficult negotiations'.
Should United fail to sign Sancho, moves for Ivan Perisic and Douglas Costa have been mooted.
However, European football expert Julien Laurens says United shouldn't forget about signing Perisic and Costa and called on them to be more creative in their scouting.
"No one, leave me alone. Be creative United please, be creative," he said when asked on the Gab & Juls podcast whether they would be good signings for United.
"Don't go and get the veteran that is passed from one club to another club, from Bayern Munich or Juventus. 'Douglas Costa, do you want to go to United?'. Please, please, please.
"Yeah okay [Perisic played okay last season], maybe he would be the only one.
"But please, why don't you just look at your stats, the network your scouts have built, your scout reports, have a look at what's been done in other countries, in other clubs?
"But please come up with someone else than those three."
