Jake Paul and Kylian Mbappe were among the highest-paid athletes in the world aged 25 or under in 2021.
YouTuber-turned-fighter Paul, 25, made a mint from his boxing exploits, with the American loudmouth taking home a cool £30million in the last year. The controversial star celebrated his achievement in a tweet, writing: "Made my pro-debut January 30, 2020. 2 years & 4 months later, I’m the 6th highest paid athlete in the world 25 and under.
"Hate me all you want…I’m just gonna prove you wrong. Next stop August 13th." Paul announced earlier this month that he would step back into the ring in the summer, but the identity of his next opponent remains unknown.
Despite Paul's immense popularity and obvious star quality, he couldn't break into Sportico's list of the top five highest-paid athletes in the world aged 25 or under for 2021.
Top spot went to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, 25, who is said to have earned a whopping £53.2million. That puts him well clear of tennis star Naomi Osaka in second, with the former US Open champion reported to have taken home £42.8million.
There's then a big gap to footballing royalty in the form of PSG star Kylian Mbappe. Aged just 23, Mbappe pocketed £39million in 2021. It remains to be seen what his earning potential could be if he completes a move to Real Madrid this summer.
Formula One star Max Verstappen came fourth with £34.6million in earnings, while New Orleans Saint cornerback Marshon Lattimore rounded out the top five on £33million. Not to be sneezed at, by any means.
