James Rodriguez may make Premier League return as ‘trio eye’ Everton flop
Man City boss Pep Guardiola reviews the Everton win
Three Premier League clubs are reportedly courting Everton flop James Rodriguez over a potential return to England, according to reports. The Colombia midfielder could be set for a shock return to English football on a free transfer at the end of a troublesome season.
In the summer of 2021, Rodriguez left Everton halfway through his two-year contract, which made him the club’s highest-paid player.
Carlo Ancelotti persuaded him to join him at Goodison Park, but his exit became inevitable after the Italian coach returned to Real Madrid and Rafa Benitez replaced him on Merseyside.
After a brief stint at Qatar club Al Rayyan, Rodriguez returned to Europe by joining Olympiacos last summer.
However, the 31-year-old has been without a club for a month after Olympiacos ripped his deal up in April.
And he could now be on course for a Premier League return two years after his Everton departure.

According to Colombian outlet El Futbolero, an English top-flight trio are exploring the possibility of acquiring Rodriguez this summer.
Journalist Christian Martin claimed: “We understand that he [Rodriguez] prioritises continuing in European football. Could it be England? We understand that, yes, there is a possibility.
“Clubs like Crystal Palace, Bournemouth or even Brighton, who are not used to making this type of incorporation, will at least find out the conditions where the Colombian could arrive.”
Rodriguez will fondly remember playing in the Premier League, registering six goals and nine assists in 26 appearances for Everton.

He helped guide Ancelotti’s side to second place on Boxing Day, though they ended the season in 10th. The Toffees have been battling relegation in the two seasons since he left.
Rodriguez has enjoyed a decorated career, lifting seven league titles with FC Porto, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
He also won two Champions League crowns with Los Blancos, so his reported desire to remain in Europe comes as little surprise.
Though, Rodriguez’s stock has plummetted in recent years, with Turkish giants Besiktas and Galatasaray among those credited with interest if a comeback in England doesn’t materialise.
