  • Presenter shared news on Twitter and is excited ahead of return to hot seat

Soccer Saturday will be back on Sky Sports this weekend with Jeff Stelling and his team of pundits taking their places for the return of Premier League football.

There had been some doubts over whether the popular show would be able to return in concurrence with ‘Project Restart’.

But Stelling announced on his Twitter page that he will once again be in the hot seat.

Jeff Stelling will be presenting Soccer Saturday once again with the Premier League back

He wrote: ‘It is exactly 100 days today since I was last at Sky. Just five more go till Gillette Soccer Saturday is back, live from the studios!’

One fan asked whether the team would be back working remotely via a split screen video call to cover the games.

But Stelling replied, confirming it would largely be business as usual.

He posted: ‘All the pundits will I believe be at Sky, socially distanced of course.’

Given that games are spread out, with Aston Villa vs Sheffield United and Manchester City vs Arsenal on Wednesday to get the season underway again, there will be a slight change.

There are only four Premier League games on Saturday, all kicking off at different times, it will be a different viewing experience to usual.

Watford vs Leicester, Brighton vs Arsenal, West Ham vs Wolves and Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace are the Saturday games but the match at Amex Stadium is the only mid-afternoon kick-off.

Stelling had previously admitted that he didn’t know how the programme would function, telling the Evening Standard: ‘We can’t have the programme based on ten games spread across the weekend, it’s just not how it works.

‘We’re all chomping at the bit to get back but we certainly need the Championship at the very least to resume.’

Fortunately there are a host of 3:00pm games in the Championship for the team to cover and no doubt fans will tune in in their droves with Stelling and Co resuming their work.
