Jose Mourinho hints he COULD be staying at Roma after win vs Spezia

Jose Mourinho hints he could be STAYING at Roma this summer as fans ask him about his future following his side’s final Serie A game of the season

  • Jose Mourinho has hinted that he could be staying at Roma this summer
  • Much speculation has arisen recently over whether he will leave the Italian club
  • The Italian has been strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain

Jose Mourinho has implied that he’ll be staying at Roma this summer, despite much ambiguity over his current contract situation.

The Italian manager has been heavily linked to become the next head coach at Paris Saint-Germain after Mail Sport reported earlier this week that the club are gearing up to sack current manager Christophe Galtier.

It comes as Mail Sport also understands the 60-year-old has come to realise that Roma’s plans for transfers are not aligned with his own philosophy, with much speculation building on that basis around his future at the club.

Mourinho was charged by UEFA on Friday after he slammed referee Anthony Taylor following his side’s Europa League final defeat to Sevilla. The Italian called the English referee a ‘f****** disgrace’ in the car park after the match and has received much criticism from many throughout the footballing world for his actions.

Tonight, the Italian coach was not present in the dug out as his side defeated Spezia 2-1 in their final Serie A game of the season, as he currently serves a touchline ban for racking up five yellow cards this season.

Paulo Dybala sealed the win for his side tonight, scoring a late penalty to secure a berth in the Europa League next season for his side

The win meant his side will now qualify for a berth in the Europa League next season, with Mourinho appearing on the pitch after full-time.

When asked by fans in the stands on whether he would be staying at the club this summer, the three-time Premier League winner made a simple gesture that many fans of the Italian side will enjoy.

In a clip posted on Twitter by Fabrizio Romano, Mourinho can be seen walking along the pitch and appears to point to the ground on two occasions implying that he will be staying at the club.

Romano writes: ‘José Mourinho when asked by the fans about his future after the final game of the season.’

Concerns were raised again over his future at Roma last week, after he threw his Europa League runners-up medal into the crowd and appeared to wave goodbye to fans after his perfect European final record was ended against Sevilla.

Yet, Mourinho has interestingly previously claimed that he has never spoken to Paris about taking over as their new boss.

Despite that loss, Roma bounced back today with Dybala (front-middle) proving pivotal in the win

Perhaps his side’s qualification to the tournament next season may have gone some way in swaying his decision to stay.

And things are less than settled at PSG right now too, with Lionel Messi set to leave the club this summer, Neymar’s future with the French giants still uncertain and Mbappe’s contract expiring next year.

His team won tonight in what was a thrilling game of football that saw Paulo Dybala score a late penalty which guaranteed Europa League football for the I Giallorossi this season.

While their sixth placed finish will be celebrated, it did come at a cost, with Roma losing star forward Tammy Abraham during the match with what appeared to be a serious knee injury.
