England are through to the Euro 2020 final against Italy after beating Denmark, and the Three Lions have broken 55 years of hurt to reach their first showpiece since the 1966 World Cup.

It wasn’t easy for the team against Denmark with an expectant 60,000 crowd watching on, but Gareth Southgate’s men got the job done with a 2-1 win thanks to an own goal by Simon Kjaer and a penalty by Harry Kane. 

It’s been a memorable tournament for everyone involved with England, so Sportsmail has picked out some of the key numbers and statistics as the team march on to Sunday’s final against the Azzurri.

Last night’s victory was Harry Kane’s 38th game as England captain, which sees him equal Steven Gerrard’s total and move into the top five… 

Kane’s first game as Three Lions skipper was a 2-2 draw in a World Cup qualifier with Scotland at Hampden Park, in which he equalised in the 90th minute.

Kane has now equalled Gary Lineker’s record for most goals scored for England at major tournaments — but he did it in two fewer games…

4 – Goals for Kane at this tournament, one behind leaders Cristiano Ronaldo and Patrick Schick as he looks to bag another Golden Boot after winning the award at the 2018 World Cup.  

Kane would be the first to win the Golden Boot at two straight tournaments since Gerd Muller in 1970 and ’72. 

The striker also equalled the goalscoring record set by Gary Lineker at major tournaments

Jordan sets the record straight 

Before Mikkel Damsgaard’s opener for Denmark on Wednesday night, Jordan Pickford had gone 725 minutes without conceding a goal for England — overtaking the previous record of 720 set by Gordan Banks in 1966…

Simon Kjaer’s own goal was the 11th of the tournament but only the first England have benefited from at the European Championship. It was only their third at a major tournament overall…
