Klopp shares what he heard from Everton bench during fiery Merseyside derby

Jurgen Klopp says he knew Everton were going to score their second goal before the ball hit the back of the net because the Toffees bench called it.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in red-hot form at the moment and was again on target as Everton drew 2-2 with Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

The Toffees were chasing the game when Lucas Digne floated the ball into the box at 2-1.

Calvert-Lewin got the better of both Joe Gomez and Andy Robertson as he leaped into the air in anticipation of the ball arriving.

Upon doing so, Klopp claims he heard the Everton bench say: "That's it!" because they knew the England international was going to convert.

Klopp spoke out about the two goals Liverpool conceded following the match, and how his defence had to change things up after Virgil van Dijk left the pitch.

Klopp said: "The set-piece [for the first goal] was unlucky when they scored, so Virg is not on the pitch and we have to sort that.

"We sorted it in the game, the only problem was that was, I think, the first corner after he left the pitch, so there was this little moment of disorganisation.

"They used it – that's [the] quality of Everton. The second goal, we avoided pretty much all situations like this over the 90 minutes but one time we let Digne cross.

"I heard already when the ball was in the air from the Everton bench, 'That's it' because they know he is really strong in these situations and he scores that goal.

"Good goal. Our goals were brilliant."
