Kylian Mbappe has 'FOUR months to extend his contract for extra year'

Kylian Mbappe has ‘just FOUR months left to take up the option of extending his contract for an extra year’… and PSG are worried the French superstar will consider Real Madrid once more when he becomes a free agent in January 2024

  • Kylian Mbappe reportedly has just ‘four months left’ to extend his PSG contract
  • The 24-year-old could become a free agent in January 2024 if he does not sign
  • PSG have made his contract a ‘priority’ to avoid another ‘hectic summer’

Kylian Mbappe reportedly has just ‘four months left’ to take up the option to extend his contract for an extra year.

The PSG star reportedly signed a three-year contract before the 2022-23 campaign but according to L’Equipe it is a two-year contract with the option of an extra season.

This means that at the end of this season, the forward will enter the final 12 months of his deal, and PSG will again be in the position of deciding whether to try to extend his contract or sell him to avoid losing him for free at the end of his deal.

This was the case in the summer of 2021 when Real Madrid had made their interest in Mbappe clear when they submitted a final bid of £154million for the Ligue 1 star in an attempt to pry him away from Paris.

This also means that the 24-year-old could leave for free next January if a deal is not agreed between the two parties.

The forward is now PSG’s joint all-time top scorer with 200 goals – level with Edinson Cavani

Mbappe has been heavily linked to Real Madrid in previous windows and this news would excite Los Blancos officials.

If the World Cup golden boot winner does not agree to extend in the four month window then PSG may have to cash in on their star in the summer – as ‘it would be their only option to get money’ for Mbappe.

According to the report, PSG are worried about facing another ‘hectic summer’ with uncertainty surrounding their star man’s contract.

As a result, the club have made it a ‘priority’ to sort out the contract so a ‘new soap opera does not open again’ in the summer window.

Mbappe became PSG’s joint-record scorer with a goal in Ligue 1 against Marseille – in the same game Lionel Messi scored his 700th club goal.

Mbappe has continued his fine form since the 2022 World Cup where he won the golden boot

Mbappe has remarkably levelled Edinson Cavani’s tally of 200 goals despite only joining the club in 2018.

It is an incredible return for the forward who will surely become PSG’s greatest ever scorer in upcoming games.

The winger has continued his brilliant goalscoring streak from the World Cup where he netted a hat-trick in the final against Argentina.

Performances like that would interest clubs from all over the world and PSG fans will be hoping to see his contract situation sorted so they can enjoy watching him at the Parc des Princes for years to come.
